| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Not only do LightSensor and Ambient sensor technologies customize light and color performance to your viewing area, but in combination with Dynamic Backlight Control, they help earn the KDL-32EX400 an ENERGY STAR certification. Further, a Full HD 1080p panel is ideal for use with HD sources like Blu-ray Disc, HD satellite, and HD gaming consoles. Look to four HDMI inputs for optimal HD connectivity, and a USB port for access to video, music, and photos on a laptop, thumbdrive, or MP3 player.

Terrific picture quality and features, with a few sacrifices. February 26, 2010 Vincent Nhieu (Los Angeles, CA) 47 out of 49 found this review helpful
Here's my simple review of this Sony TV.
General outline of features:
1080p resolution
Picture adjustments
Audio adjustments (synthetic surround sound, bass, treble)
USB device support
HDMI x4
ECO-friendly options (power save level I and II)
Ambient sensor
The picture quality is outstanding, there are numerous adjustments to make the picture look the way you want. Other adjustments include audio and settings for features. Full HD 1080p only makes it look even better. Sony advertises this TV with the "ambient" sensor that detects the lighting situation in your room so that it adjusts the backlight of the TV to compensate. I did some tests with the sensor on or off and it didn't make that much of a difference but the ambient sensor does work, it will decrease the backlight of the TV if you're in a dark room (or at night) and increase it if the room is lit up. Features also included with this TV is the ability to play music, photos and videos from a USB device which is great but I don't see myself using it. The thing that stands out with this TV set is its design. It looks like a piece of art once you remove the packaging materials. There are an influx of ports and connections on the rear and side. Component, composite, HDMI, Audio, VGA, you name it, it will have most likely have it.
My only two minor gripes about this TV is that the tuning is responsiveness of the TV's menu and tuning is fairly slow. It's not slow to the point where it bothers you but I'd say from the moment you push the channel up button on the remote until the time it actually displays the picture is around 2-3 seconds. It's not bad but its a minor gripe of mines. Another gripe I have about this TV is the price. It's certainly on the costly side for this class of TV but I believe it makes up for it in the design aspect. So if you're willing to spend a little more money to get a TV that actually looks great, this TV is a good choice.
Overall, this TV is great for the person who is willing to spend a little more money to get something that looks great without sacrificing picture quality.
Great; Especially for Gaming April 10, 2010 N. Madrigal (modesto, california usa) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
This TV is great. I have owned a Vizio and a Sharp HDTVs and both were blown away by this Sony. I bought it only for my Ps3. The picture is great(like any other HDTV), but what separates this TV from the rest are its wide range of colors. They make every game look stunning and vivid. A special look that not the average HDTV has.
So if you are going to use this for gaming, you don't need to spend an extra $200 for a 120Hz TV. It's great as it is and I'm hoping it'll last many years. I guess I really can say that it's in Sony's HDNA!!
Great HDTV!! May 4, 2010 Fong Xiong 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Great TV. There's not much I can say about it either than the fact that it is great for the money. When I got mine, it did not come with the stand and I contacted the seller (ABT). They were awfully quick about it and overnighted my stand to me. I'm very impressed with the service, and definitely impressed with the TV.
The only thing I can gripe about is not having an ethernet port and only one USB port. Yes, it's a TV not a computer monitor, but it wouldn't hurt. Also, the Ambient Sensor blows so I just leave it off...
I recommend this TV for anyone who has the budget and wants a great picture. Sony is the best, cut and dry.
very good tv May 21, 2010 Robert R. Salyers (florida) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
got this for our bed room.we have a 52 in sharp aquos in t the living room.thge sony was very easy to mount and the set up menu was very easy to use.it didnt take long to adjust the settings but i took a long time to tweek them.at first i didnt have a 1080 source just standard cable and a good sony dvd recorder.the picture with cable was no better if not sub par to the old tv i had.but when i put in 3000 miles from grace land in the dvd player you could see so vivid colors and actually see things that on a regular set you could not .ive noticed this on the sharps also but to even a more stunning degree with the sony.after hooking up a hd cable box i was fairly impressed.before i just had a cable hook up for cable but no box. after hooking up the box regular 480 pictures were even improved over the previous nights to a large degee .in 1080 the picture was very good.i have noticed the setting i orginally set will have to be changed for 1080 viewing.this tv has loads of hook ups more than the average person would need for either bed room or living room use .if you need more you probally wont be using a 32 in tv.ive got a cd dvd changer ,a dvd recorder,my receiver,a cable box a vcr and still have room for more items.you can indeed go with some cheaper tv brands but you tend to get what you pay for in many cases.ive see the same version of a vizo my freind has and its a darn good tv .i like the picture slightly better than his and the colors a good deal better.the sound is ok on the sony but i have to be honest no tv has really good sound compared to on hooked up to a audio receiver.you wont go wrong buying this tv .but unless your going to have a 1080 source dont bother go with a 720 .
