Learn More | | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. - Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
- Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Visio SRS - I have absolutely NO sound problems August 5, 2010 Star (Long Beach, CA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have this TV and enjoy the sound and picture quality. I'm a soundaholic. If you've never had a stereo or srs/home theater sound... it DOES take some time to adjust. The sound can be *VERY INTENSE*.
I suggest you adjust the sound; turn the TruSurround HD sound *TO OFF*, but do leave the TruVolumn *ON* (you can enter the graphic equalizer presets) use these to set the quality sound you enjoy most. When you do this it's of course 'best' to be playing music, music dvd IS BEST.
If you SET the preset equalizer setting to *FLAT OR OFF*... you will be able to enter and customize the settings on your (*bass & treble*) levels.
Don't hesitate to play around with the sound settings, one click will return it to the factory settings.
You will require a lower volumn level, significantly lower... the audio quality IS dynamic and intense for this TV.
Very Solid August 5, 2010 J. Nelson (USA) As mentioned already about the sound quality. You definitely got to adjust the volume as it can get really loud or really soft. The picture quality is amazing though. The home setting might be a little dark. I prefer the movie setting or sports setting to get a little more light. It's a very good deal for the price they offer. Many HDTV's seem to struggle with sound quality but at least this one has some bass to it. And like I said. It's an easy fix by changing the volume for each program or a loud part of a program. Definitely recommended.
E320VA August 31, 2010 kaptan Shipped to my door, unpacked and on the wall in 30 minutes.. Great picture, great sound, can't seem to get the closed captioning to work, but I think thats more of a Satelite reciever thing than the TV. The "Vizio" light in front is a little bright for a nightlight, it stays on when the TV is off so it works like a nightlight.. No problem.. took a black Sharpie, and colored over it.. now it's not so bright.. Other than those petty things it's a great TV.
sound problems August 4, 2010 Marion Hines (Florida) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am perfectly happy with picture on the Visio, but the sound is a terrible
problem. My previous TVs sound stayed at between 3 and 6. The Visio is all
over the place. Hard to hear or blasting from station to station it conatantly
changes and on a single station I have to keep adjusting the sound. I am
very, very disappointed.
You Get What You Pay For September 4, 2010 Two Zero If you're looking for a TV for your primary viewing in your family room, living room, or den, or even a good quality TV for the bedroom, then keep looking. But, if you're just looking for something that sits in the corner and mostly provides background noise while you focus on something else like your computer in your home office, or at your workbench in your garage or home shop, then this is a low cost option. Because the $299 price tag at Costco which includes a $73 instant rebate is hard to beat in a name brand 32" LCD HD TV. But, the volume control on this thing is junk. The volume drifts up and down on its own, not just from program to commercial and back, or channel to channel, but even within the same program. For me, it still works because I usually have the volume down where the fluctuations are less noticeable or even muted completely while my focus is on whatever game I'm playing on my computer. The TV is there to let me keep an eye on a race or a football game. But, if watching a specific program or even on TV is my focus, I'm in the family room watching on a 46". If I had bought this for the bedroom to watch TV or a movie in bed, it would be on its way back to Costco. No excuse for Vizio to screw up something as basic as volume control.
